“A Man Is only truly Happy When he’s Dead”
I don’t remember if these are the exact words but it was said by Herodotus. Even though these was said hundreds of years ago by the Greeks I can still see it live on through the society we live in today. When the Greeks were around the idea of a good death was to die fighting. I think that is what Herodotus meant. One is only happy once they have died a fighting death and those who didn’t die a fighting death weren’t happy. Personally even though I think it’s an interesting quote I think it’s not true. Obviously there are more honorable ways to die than fighting. But how can a death be honorable? In the end we all in some way die the same way, by going up to heaven. Yet I’ll see people who are obsessed with war going like “Oh yeah I wanna die by shooting all the Iraqi’s” but that’s not honorable in any way possible. I doubt God would want you to think death is honorable and least of all wanting you to die killing your brothers and his children. I’m not religious in any way, but I’m thankful by being raised Catholic by my parents because I know what’s right and what’s wrong. I mean you can disagree with me but I still sincerely doubt that if you went up to Heaven smiling at God because you just killed 20 people he would be happy. God may be all forgiving but that doesn’t mean he can’t be upset with you. Most people seem to forget this.
